Bad news, everybody.

My computer crashed, and unfortunately due to various problems it will be months before I'll be able to afford to either fix it or get a replacement. This sadly means that the Prettyfaces will be on hiatus for the unforeseeable future. Don't worry, I had managed to back up the hood, so I can restart things at the point we left them in my last update, so it's all a matter of time.

Please keep your fingers crossed.

Download a Prettyface!

Finally, the Prettyfaces are ready to invade your game with their... well, with their pretty faces. Just click on the link, and pick your favourite.

Cut!Collapse )

We interrupt this prettacy to give you...

I decided to play with the other families in the Prettyfaces' neighbourhood, as two of the lots had heavily pregnant women when I had last played them, and this was before Polly was conceived. I'm not planning to make every family in Pickford age at the same rhythm, but at least we can have the mothers follow future Ducklings home if/when I get one in either of those career tracks.

Anyway, today I visited alittlestrange's Grace Duckling's home, and discovered something that's bound to amuse anyone who follows the Prettyface Prettacy: Cut!Collapse )

The Prettyface Prettacy 1.1

Surprise! Inspired by both alittlestrange and tigerannesims2, I decided to try my hands at a prettacy - only I went on a different route to what I had planned ages ago. I'm still getting back to the rhythm of posting after such a long time, so please be patient with me.

66 pictures under the cut.Collapse )

A few days ago, I managed to get my hands on The Sims 4. I'm still testing the grounds and learning about things as I go along, so I still don't know whether I'll ever feel like doing a proper legacy with it or just toy around with my favourite aspects. All I can say is that, so far, I'm liking it more than TS3 but TS2 is still on the top of the list for me.

Anyway, I have a few screenshots of my testing sim, if you want to have a look.

My 12-year-old cousins dared me to create the sim version of a classic Doctor Who alien - more specifically, Alpha Centauri from Jon Pertwee's Peladon stories. Today, I finally accepted the challenge and... well...

You better see for yourselves.Collapse )

May. 24th, 2014

Before anything, I must apologize for my silence lately. I'll post a new update on the lives of the Veronaville founders as soon as Week 2 of the Capps is done.

In the meantime, here's a small note that I'm sure will amuse anyone who follows alittlestrange's Duckling Legacy. You see, for a bit of fun, I decided to put Grace Duckling (gen 3 heir) in Desiderata Valley, in order to see what would result from the combination of her genes, Maxis, and my face template defaults. Needless to say, Grace's "graceness" ended up carrying a recurring theme from her legacy into my game...

Cut.Collapse )

And here's the final installment for week 1 in this re-population project. Enjoy!

Come this way...Collapse )

Part 2 of my attempt to recreate Veronaville using the Beginning hood. This update features the next two Gen 1 families and has 69 screenshots - 3 times more than the four previous families combined.

Come this way...Collapse )

Hello, and welcome to this first installment of my attempt to recreate Veronaville using Marka93's Beginnings project. As I've mentioned in the introduction, I'll be starting with the original ancestors and (hopefully) finish with Romeo, Juliette, Puck, etc., whom I suspect will end up looking very different from their Maxis counterparts. We'll have to wait and see...

One word of warning before we begin: this is a REALLY short post, at only 23 pictures (27 if you count the introductory shots, which were taken directly from Marka93's description of the hood at MtS. This is because I started this project without the idea of sharing it online. Next time we go through these four families I'll try to record some more moments of their lives so that you can have an idea of what the founders are like.

Anyway, let's get to it!Collapse )

The Beginning of Veronaville

Hey everybody! Long time no see... er, write. Oh, you know what I mean.

During all this time I haven't stopped playing, but I felt a bit uninspired when it came to writing about my results - and for one reason or another (including the time when my M&G disc cracked), all my attempts ended up unfinished.

This time, however, thanks to a project I've found at MTS (and which I know others have been commenting on, as there's been secrets about it at simsecret), I've decided to give this journal another go.
The project in question is marka93's Beginnings series, where he's managed to clone and fix the original ancestors from the 6 Maxis hoods (7 if you count Bluewater Village, as apparently he's working on that one too). You can play these any way you wish, but as a bit of a challenge I've decided I would play all the families in rotation and make them have the exact children they're meant to have in the Maxis version, and see how much they'll differ from the original in looks, genetics and personality. The hood I've chosen for this was Veronaville for a simple reason: there's more unique faces in that hood, which means I might end up with some interesting kids indeed.

Here's a few more details about how I'll be playing this.Collapse )

And that's it for now. So far I've played the first week of the first four Gen 1 couples, so expect a (short) post about it very soon.

Coming soon...

Some of you might have noticed my attempt to resurrect the Cheeses. Don't worry, I'm not going to stop this new version, as I'm looking forward to seeing where I can take them now. However, I interrupted my playing and updating of them for a considerable length of time, and I feel I've lost touch with the narrative voice I employ for this legacy. Until then, I'm going to be working on something else - and who knows, with time I might start alternating between the two.

For this upcoming new legacy, I decided to go for something a little bit more Maxis-flavoured. In other words, I discarded my mix of default face templates, and downloaded meetme2theriver's fixed version of Pleasantview. My only concession from using only sims with the Maxis face templates was replacing the Takemizu Village locals with slightly more Asian-looking sims. Oh, and since some of the uni townies were spawned with the alien face (which makes them look rather... interesting, to say the least), I went for simgarooop's mod that turns PT7 (AKA the Caliente sisters' alien granddad) into the default PT.

As for the founder, I decided to pick a premade teen townie, age them up to young adult and start this legacy at uni. I discussed this idea with [personal profile] kerouaille, as I wanted to avoid the more popular ones like Meadow Thayer, and she suggested Tosha Go - and after playing her through her first semester, I'm so glad I went with her. Not only does she have what I now call "the Gru hair" (if you've read the original Cheese Legacy, you know what I mean), her flatted-out nose is really growing on me. And besides, she's just so cute and adorable.Collapse )

Stay tuned for more news.

As you must have gathered from my long silence these past few months, the Ness Legacy will be on hiatus. For how long, I'm not sure yet - the hiatus might even become permanent. If this is the case, I apologize.

As some of you are aware of, around the time I last posted on this journal I was going through some personal problems that led to lack of inspiration to write and lack of an interest in playing the sims. the inspiration and interest have returned, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to get reacquainted with the Nesses straight away after such a long hiatus. I want to play the sims, though, so I might start working on something different for now - and, if I feel inspired to play with them again, I might resume the Ness Legacy in the near future. I'm still not sure what new project should I begin right now, though - part of me wants to give the Viking Death Squad challenge a go, while other part of me wants to do an Awesimsauce legacy. A Prosperity challenge sounds very enticing as well. Or maybe something of the Sims 3 variety, though glitches keep happening on an alarming regular basis whenever I try to play that one.

Ah well, I'll work on it during the weekend - and hopefully I'll have something brand new for your enjoyment very soon.

ETA: I have made up my mind, and it won't be nothing of what I had suggested above. Stay tuned...

My attempt at this challenge, with my very own Gruyère Cheese as the Queen Bee.

Today I bring you Part One, featuring Antwerp (needlecream) as the father.

Part One.Collapse )

Yes, folks, I've decided to give the Queen Bee challenge a try.
For those of you unfamiliar with the challenge, the idea is to pick a female sim and make her breed with ten males in order to see how their children will look like. No narratives or special challenges requires - just to try and create original-looking sims and share them with others.
Now, my choice for queen is a bit obvious: a sim I know those of you who are familiar with my legacies would be happy to see again, and who is able to produce some really epic facial expressions - which, hopefully, will pass on to her offspring. Oh, and she's also produced some funky-looking kids in the past, which also helps.
Anyway, what better way to introduce her to you than by telling a little story?
